2017Personal Experience
I have been a volunteer community member with the Latrobe Health Assembly since it was formed in 2016. At that time, I was residing in the wonderful village of Tyers where my husband and I lived for 40 years. We look back and know what a special community and environment it was to raise our two sons.
My professional background was in health focusing on the mental health and wellbeing of children, adolescents, and their families. Now in retirement and living in Traralgon I still get a sense of purpose by volunteering on the Lifeline phones and with the Red Cross.Â
Enjoying our wonderful environment continues to be a family passion, I enjoy bush walking and cycling, and I am a member of the Ben Cruachan Walking Club
The Health Assembly has seen the development of many impressive programs which potentially lay the foundation for further expansion. Some of those close to my heart are Community Health Nursing in Primary Schools. Make a Move Latrobe that encourages us all to keep active, connected and enjoying life as we age.
The Latrobe Community is diverse both in its population but also in environment. It is an area of great potential that needs to show confidence in itself to meet the challenges of the future and be ready to take and make opportunities. Â
