Personal Experience

Hello! I am Brooke Carlesso and I commenced a Programs and Innovation Officer role with the Latrobe Health Assembly in July 2023. I grew up in Gippsland and moved back to the area to pursue my career in 2013. I am proud to call this area my home.

To the team, I bring formal knowledge from my Bachelor of Science (Monash University) and Graduate Diploma of Public Health (University of Western Australia) qualifications and also studies in Bachelor of Nursing (Monash University). However, the breadth of my skills and understanding come from my experiences of prevention and health promotion work with Primary Care Partnerships, Gippsland Primary Health Network and Youth Live for Life.

In my most recent role, I led the development and implementation of the Place-Based Suicide Prevention Trials in Latrobe, which included supporting a number of LHA activities including the Hello. campaign. I also have understanding of prevention work across the areas of alcohol and drug use, active living, food security, gender equity, LGBTIQ+ inclusion, and mental health.

I am excited to be apart of the Latrobe Health Assembly team to share my passions of preventative health and wellbeing, collective impact, systems change, and community driven action. I look forward to building strong relationships with our Assembly members and partner organisations to collaboratively work on improving the health and wellbeing of all people who call the Latrobe Valley home. The community is at the heart of all of the fantastic work being completed here – I can’t wait to see what we achieve next!
