HandsUp Latrobe training programs for local volunteer groups

The Latrobe Health Assembly’s ‘HandsUp Latrobe’ project will be hosting a series of training sessions dedicated to upskilling people who manage volunteers within the Latrobe Valley.

The two-part training series, hosted on Zoom will be offered on two separate dates each will provide organisations that utilise volunteer services with a wealth of knowledge ‘Volunteering and the Law’ and ‘Managing Challenging Conversations’. ‘Volunteering and the Law’ will provided participants with an understanding of how the law applies to volunteers and the implications this has for volunteer management practices while the ‘Managing Challenge Conversations’ sessions will allow you to comfortably address several complex issues regarding managing volunteers’ teams within your organisation/club. Both training opportunities are offered free to organisations based in Latrobe Valley.

HandsUp Latrobe project Coordinator, Sharlene Giddens said “many organisations utilise the valuable time of volunteers within our community and while incredibly rewarding for all parties, managing volunteers can be a tricky balancing act of priorities”.

The ‘Volunteering and the Law’ and ‘Managing Challenging Conversations’ training session will allow participants to learn practical skills in managing a volunteer-based workforce,” said Ms Giddens.
