Personal Experience

Merrin Bamert is currently the Director of Emergency Management, Population Health and Health Prevention at the Department of Health and Human Services, Victoria, representing the South and South East Victoria.

Merrin completed her Bachelor of Nursing in the early 1990,s and specialised in Emergency Nursing. 

Having an interest in education, Merrin spent over 10 years working as a postgraduate educator in Emergency and Critical Care in various hospitals across Melbourne.

For the last eleven years Merrin has worked at the Department of Health and Human Services in a range of roles including leading teams in health and human service workforce strategy and planning, Integrated Care initiatives and Health System design and planning.

In 2018 Merrin completed the Executive Masters’ of Public Administration through the Australian and New Zealand School of Government, this has continued her interest in public policy and leadership. The range of roles and studies completed, has led to a strong desire to continue to lead teams that work with improving community health and wellbeing outcomes through community led engagement, good public policy, strategy and planning.
