My name is Mark Munnich and I have been volunteer member with the Latrobe Health Assembly since about 2014 assisting with the community consultations with the Hazelwood Mine Fire Enquiry, development and progress to shape and develop the Latrobe Health Assembly, through to what we see the Latrobe Health Assembly today, a vibrant voice for our community of Latrobe.. My area of interest in Health and Well Being, my home town is Boolarra and try to support some of the smaller community initiatives within these as well as the broader communities in Latrobe.
My professional background is in the Aboriginal Health sector, for 30 plus years working within this sector to improve, Aboriginal Health and Well Being on so many levels, supporting and advocating for Social Justice Access and Equity. I am currently one of the Executive Team at our Regional/ local Aboriginal Health Service Ramahyuck District Aboriginal Corporation, managing the Community Services Stream which incorporates overall Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health and Well Being.
I have worked on and assisted discussions and development of several different initiatives Via the Assembly. I have no favourites and support others voices and opinions, as Latrobe is made up of very multicultural communities but do hope to influence some of the initiatives. I love Community and having a voice, that is why I joined the LHA, if not a voice for myself and my specific community, then advocating for others, and initiating change/s.
I see the Latrobe Health Assembly in 5 years’ time becoming more important and morphing into a Key conciliation service for Latrobe, with arms into Community capacity building, community engagement and having a key focus on the heart and pulse of our community.
