Personal Experience

My name is Kate Mallia and I am the Planning and Research Lead with the Latrobe Health Assembly. I have been working with the Latrobe Health Assembly since 2017. My professional background is in research with a particular focus on public health, epidemiology, biostatistics and clinical research.

My favourite project that I have been involved in was the Pelvic Pain and Endometriosis Program that the Latrobe Health Assembly co-hosted with the Pelvic Pain Foundation of Australia. This program saw an educator travel to the different high schools in Latrobe providing valuable information to both males and female students about what pain is normal, what is not and where and when to seek help. In the future I am looking forward to researching and looking at ways to address the issue of pelvic pain in Latrobe as the Pelvic Pain and Endometriosis Program and the Nurses in Schools program have both identified chronic pelvic pain as an issue in Latrobe Children.

Within the next five years’, I would like to see the first round of results from some of our larger projects showing that the Latrobe Health Assembly are making a positive influence on many of the measures of health and wellbeing in Latrobe.
