Personal Experience

My name is Diane Wilkinson and I have been a volunteer community member with the Latrobe Health Assembly since its establishment in 2016. I was born locally and have lived most of my life in the Latrobe Valley.  With over 30 years’ experience in the health and community service sectors, I held a number of health administration and management positions within organisations across Gippsland before moving to undertake private consulting work in 2011. I have qualifications across the areas of governance, business management and health promotion, including a Master of Public Health and the Australian Institute of Directors (AICD) Company Directors Course.

I have a strong interest in and passion for the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities in the Latrobe Valley and across Gippsland.  I have been an active community member through voluntary associations with a range of community organisations over many years, including membership and current Board positions with the Rotary Club of Moe, Gippsland Rotary Centenary House and Latrobe Valley Village. Previous voluntary roles have included as a community trustee with Latrobe City Trust and Board member at Gippsland Centre Against Sexual Assault.

One of the LHA projects that I am particularly interested in is the Community Nurse in Schools Program. This project has already demonstrated very positive outcomes for children and families through the initial phases and I look forward to continuing to be involved as we move into next year.      I am also a member of the Nutrition working group, another project that I believe has the potential to deliver improved outcomes and health benefits for local communities.

I look forward to seeing the Latrobe Health Assembly continuing to identify, develop and implement projects and activities through collaboration with the broader community in order to achieve shared goals and objectives.
