The Latrobe Health Assemblyâs âHandsUp Latrobeâ project is pleased to offer a series of training sessions dedicated to upskilling people who manage volunteers within the Latrobe Valley.
HandsUp Latrobe aims to build capacity for organisations to develop appropriate volunteering opportunities and resources to adapt their engagement to the changing needs and expectations of volunteers within our community.
The two-part training series, offered on two separate dates, will provide organisations with a wealth of knowledge to guide the Volunteer experience. The first in the series, âVolunteering and the Lawâ, will provide participants with an understanding of how the law applies to volunteers and the implications this has for volunteer management practices, while the second, âManaging Challenging Conversations,â session will allow organisations to comfortably address several complex issues regarding managing volunteer teams. Both training opportunities are offered free to organisations based in Latrobe Valley.
HandsUp Latrobe project Coordinator, Sharlene Giddens, said âmany organisations utilise the valuable time of volunteers within our community and while incredibly rewarding for all parties, managing volunteers can be a tricky balancing act of prioritiesâ.
âThe âVolunteering and the Lawâ and âManaging Challenging Conversationsâ training session will allow participants to learn practical skills in managing a volunteer-based workforce,â said Ms Giddens.
The âVolunteering and the Lawâ training is a 3-hour session, split into 2 days, beginning Monday 6 September (6:00-7:30pm) and Monday 13 September (6:00-7:30pm). Session dates for the âManaging Challenging Conversationsâ will be finalised soon.
